MP turns out for Bamber Bridge 'Emergency Briefing' on climate and nature 'crisis'

The MP has urged people to sign a UK-wide briefing on climate and nature risks petition.

Almost 30 people, including Maya Ellis MP, gathered in Carr Street Community Centre, Bamber Bridge to discuss climate and nature concerns.

The group watched a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing, followed by a public discussion about what the issues raised in the film may mean locally.

The screening formed part of a wider UK programme of events designed to help communities engage with the climate and nature crisis, and supported by naturalist Chris Packham, who has said: “I’d encourage people everywhere to attend a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing. This new film creates exactly the kind of honest local conversation we now urgently need, both about the threat from climate and nature breakdown, but also about what we can do, together with our politicians, to build a better future”.

Discussion afterwards focused on a variety of ideas such as joining a community-led group such as Bamber Bridge in Bloom, who supported this screening, to one from Mrs Ellis encouraging constituents to sign the Hold a UK-wide briefing on climate and nature risks petition.
