Investigation after man found unconscious

Police were called to Cheapside in the early hours of Saturday morning, to reports of an unconscious man.

Inspector Martin Bishop, force incident manager, said: “Our assessment is he has had some kind of head injury.

“We don’t know the cause of the injury, whether it’s been a fall or an assault, so we’ve got the scene preserved while we conduct further inquiries.”

He asked anyone with information about what happened to contact police on 101, quoting log number 249 of January 16.
