Fire crews from Preston and Penwortham were called out, with three engines and an aerial ladder platform used to tackle the fire shortly after 8pm.
The fire happened in the kitchen of a ground-floor flat, and firefighters were able to extinguish it using a hose reel and a ventilation unit.
One casualty received precautionary checks by ambulance crews at the scene.
