Family-owned Lancashire supermarket Booths raises incredible amount for two local charities
Staff at Booths supermarket’s central office have raised £15,556.90 for two local charities.
Each year, sites and stores belonging to the Northern retailer select a range of charities to fundraise for. In 24/25, Booths’ Central site chose to support East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group and MND Association.
From seasonal raffles to charity fun days, team BBQs and book tables where colleagues could donate or buy books, there’s been lots happening to raise funds.
East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group provide social support to local families, organising meetups, offering support and hosting events like their annual weekend trip to Blackpool Zoo. The £7,436.44 raised by the Booths team has gone directly towards an Educational Specialist in Lancashire for a year. The support they provide to children is invaluable in helping them thrive in their educational setting, ensuring they are included and have the chance to develop and grow towards future success and independence.

Alan Ridout, BAU Project Manager at Booths said: “I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by incredible colleagues who care so much and work so hard to raise amazing amounts for charity. This years’ experience of being able to bring information and advocacy to the workplace and to support the amazing work that ELDSSG do has been second to none.”
MND
The MND Association campaigns for those living with and affected by Motor Neurone Disease in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, they can help people find local support, work to support research and improve access to care.
Team Booths raised a total of £8,120.46 which will go towards supporting people locally, helping fund vital equipment, like their eye gaze technology which offers a new way of communicating to those who have lost their voice due to MND.
