Video shows aftermath of Leyland family's devastating house fire in Merlin Grove

A family who barely escaped an ‘explosive’ house fire in Leyland have shared footage of its devastating aftermath.

Neil Williams said he and his family have lost ‘everything’ in the blaze which tore through their bungalow in Merlin Grove on Wednesday evening.

The 58-year-old said his wife and children managed to flee the burning home just ‘seven seconds before the explosion’ and no one was injured.

The fire service said the cause is not yet known. It was reported to Lancashire Police and officers attended the scene, but the force has not said at this stage whether it is being treated as suspicious or not.

“Everything we had in the world is gone”

“We have nothing, just the clothes on our backs,” said Neil. “Everything we had in the world, it’s just gone.

“Still can't believe everything we had was gone in seconds. But all my family got out safe, so someone must be looking down on me. Feeling blessed,” he added.

Neil shared shocking footage of the fire engulfing his home, as well as video of its devastating aftermath showing his home gutted by the blaze.
