Schoolgirl subjected to 'horrid assault' by 'pupil from another school' in Lancashire

A 13-year-old girl was punched in the face by a boy who police believe may be from another school in Lancashire.

The unprovoked attack against the St Christopher's High School pupil took place in Alice Street, Accrington, at around 3.50pm yesterday (March 22).

Reports of the assault circulated widely on social media and today (March 23) officers confirmed they had spoken to the victim's father.

Police said they believe the offender was a boy from another school and they are now conducting a thorough search of CCTV in the area.

Sgt Nigel Hindle, of Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "I have today spoken to the victim’s father regarding this horrid assault and arrangements are in place to further the investigation in order to identify and deal with the offender

"There will be increased police presence outside the schools at closing time and the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting visits to the schools involved."
