Rogue Preston and Chorley driveway trader John Hargadon faces jail

A notorious bogus businessman has been warned he faces a prison term.

John Hargadon, 53, of Collingwood Street, Colne, has admitted offences against 18 victims between 2017 and 2019 across Lancashire - including Hoghton, Adlington, Walmer Bridge and Hutton - relating to his firm Driveways (North-West) Ltd.

He admits three counts of participating in a fraudulent business by failing to provide cancellation rights and performing misdescribed, substandard or incomplete work, and four of fraud by failing to disclose cancellation rights.

He also admits two counts of fraud by giving fake names to customers, and three counts of fraud by making false claims he had ‘done work for next door’, had ‘worked on three large nearby new-builds’ and would carry out work on a woman’s drive if she paid him £4,100.

He will be sentenced on June 4.
