Preston woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man dies in Kirkham

A woman from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died at a home in Kirkham.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the death of a man in Kirkham on Wednesday afternoon (April 8).

Police were called by the ambulance service to a report of a sudden death at a bungalow in Chestnut Close, off Kirkgate, shortly before 2pm.

Officers attended and the body of a man - since confirmed as Lee Walker, 47 - was found inside the home.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A Home Office post mortem examination will be carried out to try to establish the cause of death.

Police enquiries are on-going and a 39-year-old woman from Preston has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

She remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Wilson, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Walker at this time and while we have arrested one person our enquiries are very much on-going.

"I would appeal to anyone with information, in particular anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious at the address over the last few days, to get in touch.

"There will be extra police in the area over the next couple of days so please do approach an officer if you have any information or concerns."
