Curfew for cash thief

A MAN who stole a charity box from Preston’s Harris Museum has been fitted with an electronic tag.

Nicholas Armstrong, 42, of Balfour Road, Preston, admitted stealing cash from the museum’s charity box in February. He was given a 7pm to 7am curfew, monitored with an electronic tag, and ordered to pay compensation of £250, and £50 of court costs.

Preston magistrates ordered that a knife found on him should be forfeited.

PRESTON: A woman was given a conditional discharge after she admitted being drunk and disorderly in Preston.

Cheryl Biggar, 32, of Cotswold Road, Chorley, was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

She was also ordered to pay £45 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge when she appeared before Preston magistrates.

BROUGHTON: A driver has been fined £660 for driving without due care and attention and leaving the scene of an accident. Kurtis Howard, 43, of Garstang Road, Broughton, did not attend court but the case was proved in his absence. He was also ordered to pay £650 court costs and had points added to his licence.

PRESTON: A man caught with cannabis in Preston has been given a two-year conditional discharge. Mark Westby, 25, of Ballam Road, Preston was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 surcharge. The cannabis was destroyed.

PRESTON: A woman who stole candles from a city card shop has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Donna Gray, 36, of Isherwood Street, Preston, stole candles worth £24 from Clinton Cards in Preston.

She was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge by Preston magistrates.

PRESTON: A man caught drink driving in Preston’s Moor Lane has received a 12-month ban.

Daniel Bartic, 29, of St George’s Road, Preston, admitted driving while over the limit and was fined £320.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

PRESTON: A woman has been given a suspended jail sentence after she admitted assaulting another woman. Donna Blount-McKenna, 41, of Heys Hunt Avene, Leyland, was given an 16-week term, suspended for 18 months.

Court snaps

Gary Kenyon of Byron Crescent, Coppull, has been fined after admitting assault by beating of another man.

Kenyon, 18, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also imposed a restraining order forbidding him from contacting his victim. The order runs until June 2016.

A man caught drink driving in Chorley has been banned from getting behind the wheeel after he admitted the offence.

Darren Gaskell, 37, of Silverdale Road, Chorley, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.

A woman has been fined after she failed to stop after a road accident in Chorley.

Leanne Boylan, 30, of Draperfield, Chorley, admitted failure to stop and was fined £120.

She also had seven points added to her driver’s licence and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

A police officer has been awarded £100 compensation after he was assaulted while on duty in Chorley.

Anatoli Lipatov, 23, of Burlington Street, Chorley, admitted assaulting a police constable and was fined £300. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to his victim, plus court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Anthony McNulty has been made the subject of a community order after he was found guilty of assault by beating.

McNulty, 28, of School Street, Bamber Bridge was found guilty of the assault on another man in Chorley in December last year.

He was made the subject of a 12 month community order, and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation, £60 victim surcharge and £200 court costs.
