Grieving man's driving ban

A MAN who drove while under the influence following his aunt's funeral has be banned for 14 months.

James Ashcroft, 23, of Topaz Way, Chorley, lost his driving job as a result of the charge, Preston Magistrates’ Court was told.

Prosecuting, Kerry Grieve said: “On July 8 police received information a possible drink driver had left the George public house in Chorley.”

Officers traced the vehicle to his address and spoke to him as he arrived home.

He blew 58mg of alcohol in a breath test.

District Judge David Scanlan ruled he must pay a £110 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
