Four men in court over alleged business burglary conspiracy dating back two years

Four men have been charged in connection with burglaries at commercial and retail premises in the Preston area two years ago.

Gary Lee Birtwistle, 39, of Kingsfold Drive, Penwortham, Preston, appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court alongside co-defendants Patrick Gavin, 21, of Dorman Road, Ribbleton, Preston, Richard William Bennett, 30, of Thurston, Skelmersdale, and Christopher Handley, 26, of Sherburn Road, Preston.

All four are accused of conspiring between September 8, 218, and March 27, 2019, to enter commercial and retail premises with intent to steal.

Birtwistle and Gavin are accused of conspiring to steal a man's caravan in October 2018,

Birtwistle is further charged with conspiring to steal building tools and equipment belonging to Storey Homes in September 218,

Gavin faces a further allegation of possessing cocaine and cannabis in July 2018, while Handley is accused of conspiring to commit a burglary at a home on Lea Road, Preston.

The case has been committed to Preston Crown Court.
