Officers have charged a man with abduction and sexual assault of a six-year-old girl in Droylsden, Tameside.

The 23-year-old will appear at Salford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with two counts of sexual assault by penetration and one count of abduction.

Lewis Jones, of Liverpool, was arrested on Thursday following the abduction of a six year old girl in Manchester.

Police were called on Wednesday, August 17 at 4.10pm to reports of a suspected abduction and sexual assault of the girl on Warne Avenue in Droylsden, Tameside.

The girl was safely re-united with her family a short time later and a major manhunt was launched to apprehend the suspected offender.

On Thursday 18 August 2022, we arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of abduction and sexual assault by penetration of a 6-year-old girl.
