CCTV appeal after newly installed games area damaged within hours and beer cans left strewn across ground in Catterall

A newly installed multi-use games area was damaged within hours in Catterall, prompting a CCTV appeal.

Police on Tuesday (July 26) released an image of three men they wanted to speak to after a multi-use games area was damaged in Catterall.

The multi-use games area – which had been installed near the village hall on July 12 – was damaged within hours after someone climbed the fence surrounding it.

Contractors who arrived the following morning found footprints had been left in the freshly laid tarmac as well as beer cans scattered across the ground.

A spokesman for Catterall Parish Council said: “The damage is repairable in that the footprints will have to be cut out and new surface put in.

“It will be visible but the alternative is to take up the whole surface and redo it.

“We can’t afford that and there is no guarantee that it won’t happen again.”

Officers urged anyone who recognised the men in the CCTV image to contact them as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].

“Please remember that a lot of time, effort and money goes into making these areas nice for locals to enjoy so please use them responsibly and look after them,” Lancashire Police added.
