Armed police swoop on street after man spotted 'carrying sword' in Bamber Bridge

A man who was seen "carrying a sword" was arrested after a police dog caught him in Bamber Bridge.

Residents in School Street reported the incident to police at around 1.30pm today (March 18).

Armed officers rushed to the scene and after a "short search" a man was detained by PD Billie from the Lancashire Police Dog Unit.

We were called at about 1.30pm to a report of a domestic disturbance in the School Street area," a spokesman for the force said.

"A man was seen making off from an address in possession of what is believed to be a sword and after a short search he was detained by PD Billie.

"Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding while we dealt with this fast-moving incident."
