£3,000 damage caused to giant movie screen in Preston

Mindless vandals damaged a giant cinema screen on the final night of a popular drive-in movie experience in Preston.

​But the team behind the Moonlight Drive-In Cinema have vowed to return to Preston.

The cinema has just finiished a week-long stint at Deepdale Shopping Park on Blackpool Road.

​Moonlight revealed today that the screen had been damaged, causing £3,000 damage.

They have asked for any witnesses to get in touch.

Organisers Moonlight said on Facebook: “Well that’s all folks, we had a great week with you all, unfortunately I have to apologise to those who were effected at the later screening last night due to the vandalism that took place to our screen during the film.

​“​If anyone does have any information regarding the offending person please do get in touch as it caused £3,000 worth of damage.

“Regardless of that you were all exceptional customers and we will see you again soon I’m sure.”

Moonlight Drive-in Cinema was setup ​in Yorkshire ​and launched ​ in the summer of 2015.

​During its stint in Preston, it showed films including Grease, Dirty Dancing, Finding Dory and Suicide Squad.
