35-year-old Daniel Newhouse convicted of possessing shotguns whilst prohibited
A 35-year-old man has been convicted of possessing shotguns whilst prohibited.
Daniel Newhouse was arrested following a lengthy investigation by Lancashire Police’s Rural Task Forces in Lancaster, Morecambe and Wyre.
He appeared before Lancaster Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday, March 11) where he was convicted of possession of two shotguns whilst prohibited.

Why some people are banned from owning shotguns
In the UK, individuals are prohibited from owning shotguns under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 if they have been sentenced to prison for three months or more.
A 5-year ban applies for sentences of three months to three years, and a lifetime ban for sentences exceeding three years.
Other prohibitions apply for public safety reasons. The police can refuse or revoke a shotgun certificate if they believe the holder is of "intemperate habits or unsound mind" or poses a danger to public safety.
