Care home plan for award-winning pub restaurant - and five other new applications in East Lancashire

Blue Bird Care have applied for permisison to change the use of The Plough in Broadfield, Oswaldtwistle, with a ramp access at the front.

The pub, which is still operating, was put on the market at the start of the year for offers in the region of £435,000 with agent Everard Cole. It has been run by the Reid family since 2016, building up fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor and Google, and last year winning a regional restaurant award at England's Business Awards.

Blue Bird say they operating hours would be 8am to 6pm every day of the week, and it would be staffed by six full time employees and two part-time employees.

Car parking would be kept the same, with space for 16 cars, two light good vehicles and four motorcycles.

A decision will be made in coming weeks by Hyndburn Borough Council.

Other applications validated in East Lancashire this week:

- Access and Layout for development of two commercial units with two flats above and 4 detached dwellings. on vacant land adjacent to former St John Vianney RC Church, Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn.

- Erection of 20 dwellings and associated development on land at Bank Hey View off Heys Lane, Blackburn.

- The construction of a new four-arm roundabout on land at Whalley Old Road (located to the East of the existing bus turning area), and directly serving the new Vistry/Bovis housing development (currently under phased construction).

- Listed Building Consent for the installation of two air conditioning units on the side gable elevation of The Old Library, Booth Street, Nelson.

- Erection of a two-storey detached outbuilding comprising caravan and garage storage at ground floor and ancillary office and gym at first floor at Hazelgrove Lodge, Warley Wise Lane, Colne.
