Bin lorry catches fire in Preston

A bin lorry which caught fire in Preston was well alight when crews arrived this morning (April 26).

Fire crews from Preston and Fulwood were called to the fire in Haighton Green Lane shortly before 8.40am.

The main body of the lorry was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Crews equipped with breathing apparatus used three hose reels, a triple extension ladder and a fog spike - a tool used to punch holes into a structure in order to pump water inside - to tackle the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 90 minutes.
