Police officers involved in Preston crash 'recovering at home'

Two officers are "recovering at home" following a crash involving a police van and a car in Walton-le-Dale.

The incident occurred near the Capitol Centre in London Road at approximately 4pm on Friday, April 23.

One casualty was rescued from their vehicle by firefighters and taken to hospital by ambulance with "minor injuries".

The two police officers suffered "minor injuries" and are now recovering at home.

Chief Insp David Rams, from British Transport Police, said: "I have made contact with both officers today who thankfully don't have serious injuries and are recovering at home.

"They have our full support package in place."

The road was closed for hours following the collision, with delays of approximately 25 minutes reported.

Ian Armistead, Protection Transformation Team Station Manager at LFRS, said: "Preston Fire Station along with blue light partners from North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Police and British Transport Police responded to this incident.

"A challenging extrication for the crews to ensure the casualty had the best care.

"Wishing all those involved a quick recovery."
