The plans have been opposed to by a local resident, who claims there are a number of issues with the proposal.

They said: “The licence application for 63 Brindle Road, Bamber Bridge must be rejected in its current guise. This shop has been empty for more than a decade, when open its hours of operation where in line with core school hours as it served the student population of Walton le Dale High School It stands on a busy cross roads (Brindle Road disecting Collins Road and Brown Lane).

“Parking outside the shop would obscure vision and make crosing this busy intersection potentially dangerous for traffic and pedestrians.

“Lastly, this is a quiet residential area which has no precedent for a retail business in recent years, nevermind one which requests to be open virtually all hours. There is the potential for excessive noise, traffic and potentially gathering of youth and anti social behaviour given that its requested late opening is wel beyond any like for like localty convenience stores. I strongly object in its current form.”
