14 illegal and abandoned vehicles seized across Preston in police crackdown

14 illegal and abandoned vehicles have been seized during a multi-agency enforcement operation in Preston.

Officers from Preston’s neighbourhood policing team joined forces with the DVLA as part of a “Skip the Whip” crackdown targeting untaxed, abandoned and unroadworthy vehicles in the St Matthew’s area.

Vehicles were identified across a number of streets including Skeffington Road, Great George Street, Canute Street, Egbert Street, Deepdale Street and Ribbleton Street.

Police said the operation helped free up valuable parking space and tackle anti-social behaviour linked to abandoned cars.

PC Hamza Musa, from the Prosper Partnership Team, said the action focused on issues affecting local residents and businesses.

He said: “These operations are about working closely with our partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

“We know that these abandoned vehicles can be hazardous for pedestrians and cause problems for businesses, as well as being a real eyesore for those visiting and working in the area.

“We remain committed to addressing these concerns and encourage everyone to report issues to us so that we can work to tackle them.”

Residents are being urged to report concerns by signing up to In The Know and completing the Lancashire Talking survey, which police use to help direct resources to problem areas.
