9. It's "Post" Party Time at Ivan Baldwin's newsagents shop in Meadow Street, Preston. Children visiting the shop have tried to guess the number of sweets in a jar and taken part in the ever popular Mark the Ball contest. 11. More than 1,000 teenagers invaded Preston during the weekend - but their mission was a peaceful one. The town played host to this year's autumn weekend organised by the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs. Youngsters from all over the country took advantage of bright weather to dance, sing, worship and make friends

12. A Welsh singer brought a song to the streets of Preston at the start of the town's Shopping Week. The Fishergate branch of the Woolworth store invited Bryn Yemm to spend a morning promoting his latest record. He also urged passers-by to join in a range of gospel and other popular songs
