Lancashire schools close due to the snow
Two schools in Lancashire have announced it will be closed today due to the snow.

Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School in Accrington took to Facebook early this morning to write: “Mount Carmel will be closed today due to weather conditions.”
The school, on Wordsworth Road, is one of only two educational establishment in Lancashire currently listed on Lancashire County Council’s ‘Unavoidable School Closures’ webpage.
Its listing confirms that a whole school closure is in place at Mount Carmel in both the morning and afternoon due to adverse weather.
The other school to be listed as closed today is the St Francis' Catholic Primary School in Goosnargh.
The listing on the council’s website also confirms the whole school will be closed in the morning and afternoon.
The reason given for the closure is adverse weather, as well as the fact that all roads around the school are unsafe as they have not been gritted.
We will provide an update if any other others schools announce their closure.
There is currently a yellow warning for snow and ice in place across much of the country, including Lancashire.
The warning was first issued by the Met Office at 3pm yesterday and it will remain in place until midnight tonight.
