Winter Wonderland Raises £12,490 for Orphan and Needy Children
Victoria Park in Nelson transformed into a Winter Wonderland on Saturday 14 December 2024, drawing an incredible crowd of over 5,000 attendees.
The event, organised by East Lancashire Community Action Project (ELCAP) and supported by charity partner Minhaj Welfare Foundation, brought together families and the wider community for a day full of joy.
The event featured a wide array of attractions, including food stalls offering delicious treats, face painting for children, bumper cars, giant penalty shootout, funfair rides, and much more. It was an unforgettable day filled with entertainment and holiday spirit for people of all backgrounds and ages.
The Winter Wonderland not only provided an ecstatic experience for attendees but also raised an impressive £12,490 to support orphan and needy children around the world through Minhaj Welfare Foundation’s charity initiatives. This generous contribution will help empower children and provide vital resources for them.

The event brought together the entire Nelson community, with families, local businesses, volunteers and councillors attending to make it a resounding success. Special thanks also go to Pendle Community Radio - Awaz 103.1FM, the local media partner and Nelson Town Council for their invaluable contributions. The Winter Wonderland also received tremendous support from the primary schools in the area, who helped spread the word and encouraged families to attend.
We hope that Nelson will continue to demonstrate it’s generosity and community spirit, supporting more events like this and amplifying our collective efforts to assist those in need, both locally and globally.
