Poundbakery in Chorley has closed permanently after the branch was deemed "no longer commercially viable".

The bakery in Market Walk closed last week - one of more than 30 ‘underperforming’ branches of Poundbakery and Sayers to close in the UK recently.

The Euxton branch of Sayers in Runshaw Lane also closed last month, with all staff made redundant.

Chorley’s Poundbakery previously closed - briefly - in August 2025, after failing to reach a tenancy agreement with Chorley Council. It reopened 48 hours later after striking a last minute deal with its Council landlords.

This time, however, Poundbakery appears to have closed for good.

Last month, S&PB Retail Ltd - the company behind Sayers and Poundbakery - confirmed over 30 stores across the country would ‘permanently close’.

Locations were not confirmed but they said the closures followed a comprehensive review of the store portfolio, with the company concluding that a number of stores were no longer commercially viable.
