Night Train gave us a blend of original blues penned by Alec Martin and a compendium of classics when they performed at BJ’s Rock in the Blues Club at The Minstrel in Eaves Green last Thursday.

Alec Martin on lead vocals, blues harp and guitar has been a pillar of the music circuit for 25 years, performing all over the North West with his band.

On lead guitar Wally Rumsey, a blues rock guitar man through and through, was just terrific.

The rhythm section was Rob Pusey on drums and Hadge Weller on bass, who is new to the band.

They gave us a taste of their new album entitled The Silence Spoke, with Death Angel, I Forgot your Name, Howlin’, Broken Heroes, Shadows of the Night and I Said Yeh.

The second set was a mix of blues and rock n roll, with Help Me, I just Wanna Make Love, I Put a Spell on You, Bullfrog and then a medley with Roll Over Beethoven, Whole lotta Shakin’, Luciell, Oh Carol, Roll Baby Roll and to finish off with Gloria and Bring it on Home to Me.

The crowd danced the night away and the night rocked.

This band likes to entertain and, on the eve of Halloween, they were spookily good.
