THE BROUGHTON PLAYERS have recently presented the ONE ACT PLAY FESTIVAL at the PRESTON PLAYHOUSE from June 17 - 21 with eleven societies taking part.

Adjudicator for the week was Sue McKay who commented that the quality of the productions had reached a very high standard.

Five trophies were presented on the last night by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillors Nicholas and Barbara Pomfrett, and invited guests.

The winners were:

Best Director: Steven Hall The Broughton Players,

Best Performance: Helen Haygarth Too Friendly Theatre Company Southport,

Best Individual Achievement: Cliff Gillies Too Friendly Theatre Company,

Adjudicator’s Award: Michael Hurley The Broughton Players

Best Overall Award: Preston Drama Club.

The festival closed with a celebratory supper for all the participants, friends and guests.

Making a triumphant return to LIVERPOOL’S ROYAL COURT THEATRE after rave reviews last year is John Godber’s BOUNCERS which runs from Fri July 25 to Sat August 16.

It’s 1985 and Ralph, Les, Judd and Lucky Eric are on the doors of The Grafton.

Times might change but some things stay the same. The lads are watching, protecting and taking the mick out of characters that you will all recognise.

They’re not doormen or security operatives – they’re bouncers and they’ve seen it all. Lads full of lager, girls full of giggles and clubs full of crazy stories.

John Godber’s play has been performed up and down the country and at venues all over the world.

This Liverpool version will see Michael Starke (A Nightmare On Lime Street), Paul Broughton (Council Depot Blues), Danny O’Brien (The Salon) and Louis Emerick (Last Of The Summer Wine) pull on the black jackets in this brilliantly funny show.
