That’s the view of organiser Julian Wilde who has seen the season’s total attendance so far top 1,200 - with the final performance of the season still to come next month.

Wuthering Heights by the Chapterhouse company and A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Ruddigore by Illyria - the latter attracting an audience of 285 on Sunday – have all proved popular and Julian said: “They were three very different productions but all were been simply superb and left the audiences completely gripped.

“I have received a tremendous number of warm compliments from those attending for the clarity of speaking and the accomplished acting.”

“On Sunday we applauded Andy Murray’s victory at Wimbledon, enjoyed a splendid set by the Lytham Community Choir, raised £550 in our charity raffle and were treated to a first class performance by Illyria,” he said. Illyria’s artistic director Oliver Gray said: “Our casts are made to feel very welcome at Lytham Hall.

The final play of this season will see Illyria return on August 28 with Roald Dahl children’s favourite Danny, the Champion of the World.
