Online gambling experts at eSportstars.io analysed the total number of Postcode Lottery wins in 120 UK postal areas as of October 2026, dating back to January 2011. The total number of wins was divided by the number of postcode districts in each area to reveal those with the highest average number of wins.

  • Preston (PR), Lancashire, is the most likely to win the Postcode Lottery, with an average of 55 wins per postcode district. In total, the city’s 11 postcode districts have had 605 wins.

  • Warrington (WA), Cheshire, takes second place, with an average of 45.5 wins per postcode district. It has 16 postcode districts and a total of 728 wins.

  • Blackpool (FY), Lancashire, is third, with an average of 45.13 wins across its eight postcode districts. The seaside town has had 361 wins overall.

  • Nottingham (NG), Nottinghamshire, comes fourth, with 42.69 average wins per postcode district. The city’s 29 postcode districts have accumulated 1,238 wins in total.

  • Leicester (LE), Leicestershire, comes in fifth, with an average of 42.29 wins per postcode district. The city’s 21 postcode districts have had 888 wins in total.

  • Bolton (BL), Greater Manchester, takes sixth place, with an average of 40.5 wins per postcode district. The town’s 10 postcode districts have seen 405 wins in total.

  • Croydon (CR), Greater London, ranks seventh, with 39.38 average wins per postcode district. The area’s eight postcode districts have won 315 times in total.

  • Blackburn (BB), Lancashire, is eighth on the list, with an average of 38.46 wins per postcode district. The town has had 500 Postcode Lottery wins across its 13 postcode districts.

  • Durham (DH), County Durham, ranks ninth, with an average of 38.22 wins per postcode district. The city’s nine postcode districts have won a total of 344 times.

  • Motherwell (ML), North Lanarkshire, Scotland, rounds out the top ten, with an average of 37.42 wins per postcode district. The town’s 12 postcode districts have won 449 times overall.

The unluckiest area is Kirkwall (KW), Orkney Islands, Scotland, with just 4.19 average wins per postcode district. Closely following are Outer Hebrides (HS), Scotland, and East Central London (EC), Greater London, with averages of 5.44 and 6, respectively.

Hana Suzuki, content manager at eSportstars.io, said:" “Every winning postcode is picked at random, but the results since 2011 show that luck hasn’t been shared out evenly across the country. The North West of England has been the big winner, claiming half of the top ten spots.

“Lancashire is the only county with more than one area in the top ten, as Preston, Blackpool and Blackburn all make the list. Warrington and Bolton take the North West’s other two places.

“Preston is the standout, with almost 21% more wins per postcode district than Warrington in second place. This is most likely down to the number of people playing there, as only postcodes with a player are entered into the draws, so an area with more postcodes in the draw has more chances of coming up."
