Preston motorcycle racer starts the 2026 season

19-year-old Fredie Barnes was at the first official British Superbike championship test at Donington par over the Easter weekend.

19-year-old Preston motorcycle racer Freddie Barnes was back on home soil after spending some time in Spain over the winter testing his Sencat Racing Triumph 765. This year he will be competing at the British Superbike championship in the Quattro Plant Supersport class.

The test consisted of 3 sessions on each day (Friday & Saturday) and following vast improvement over the winter, Freddie continued that trajectory to set his fastest lap of 1:32.519, on day one placing him in 9th place overall.

Unfortunately Freddie joined the famous 'Craner Club' on Saturday. A fast downhill section of the Donington Park circuit where you don't really want to crash but it was good to see that he walked away from it, not the same could be said for the bike (see photo) as it barrel rolled over and over and destroyed itself !

Some work to do for the Sencat Racing technicians before the 2nd official test in a few weeks, this will be held over 2 days at Oulton Park on 21/22 April.
