A delegation from the academy, including two dedicated staff members and the Head Students, attended the commemorative gathering to honour the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides.

This year's theme, "Bridging Generations", powerfully underscores that the duty of remembrance extends beyond survivors to their descendants and to every generation.

It calls on us all to listen, learn, reflect, and actively pass forward the lessons of the past to foster a world rooted in tolerance, understanding, and respect for diverse cultures and beliefs.

The event provided a meaningful opportunity for young people to engage directly with this vital history, reinforcing the academy's commitment to educating students about the importance of empathy, human rights, and standing against prejudice in all its forms.

Jamie Lewis, Headteacher of Wellfield Academy, said:

"We are incredibly proud of our Head Students for representing the school at this important Holocaust Memorial Day event. Their attendance, alongside staff, highlights our shared responsibility to bridge generations through education and reflection.

“By participating, we honour those who suffered and perished, while renewing our pledge to build a more tolerant and inclusive future. Events like this strengthen our community spirit and remind us why teaching these lessons remains essential in our school."
