Great Expectations - the musical - promises to be a Christmas cracker for Blackpool Opera House from Dec 10-Jan 7 with stars from stage, screen and music stepping up to the iconic roles. No prizes for guessing which role veteran TV and stage actor Chris (Burnside) Ellison will play. Convict Magwitch is one of the greatest anti-heroes created in classic fiction.

Chris has already played the role in the West End. Former soap and pop singer Adam Rickitt (Corrie’s young Master Tilsey back in the day) plays the wide eyed Pip, with resort favourite Maureen Nolan as jilted bride Miss Favisham and Andrew Lloyd Webber as Estelle, light of Pip’s life. It’s a change of pace for Maureen who’s at the Opera House in the UK tour of Footloose the Musical in September.
