Full steam ahead for a monster weekend

More than 600 exhibitors, and a line-up of sizzling shows, entertained crowds at the biggest steam fair in the North West on Saturday and Sunday at Woodacre Farm in Gubberford Lane, Scorton.

The headline show was the Big Pete Monster Truck team and their massive and thrilling smash-up displays.

There were eight categories of vehicles across the 30 acre site for the enthusiasts to admire, including steam, commercials and custom, military, classic, motorcycles, tractors, static engines and models and crafts.

The event, now in its ninth year, also featured entertainment with fairground rides, close up action from the North West Lawnmower Racing  Association, a flight simulator, bungee trampolines and a mini quad bikes track.

Volunteers from the North West Air Ambulance were on hand to explain the vital work that the Air Ambulance does in the region and, as the event’s official charity, raise much-needed funds.

There was also a Kidz Zone for smaller children, with an assault course of giant inflatables.

On Saturday night, there was live music performances and DJs in the beer tent. Blackpool band, the Jeps, performed classic numbers from the 60s to the present day.

Specially lit-up Showmans’ engines and a display of Goldwing Motorcycles added to the atmosphere.
