Euxton up to second despite narrow loss in NPL Division Two
Euxton slipped to a surprise home defeat to Barrow at the weekend, but still managed to move into second spot in the NPL Division Two table.
James Bone’s men picked up six points which was enough to see them move above Carlisle, whose game at home to Penwor-tham was washed out.
Joseph Bowdon (4-61) reduced Barrow to 36-3 but 82 from Dikshant Vairagi saw the visitors recover to 174 all out. Louis Sweeney returned figures of 3-13.
Indian Vairagi then took 4-57 and Sam Dutton 3-37 as the hosts fell eight runs short of victory despite Josh Tolley’s 49.
Vernon Carus suffered an agonising one-wicket loss at Mawdesley.
Bob Bridges and Jamie Rigby both hit 36 as the visitors posted 155 all out.
Kashif Jamil and Ian Dunn then took three wickets apiece but opener Nathan Trengrove’s 46 proved crucial in the hosts’ successful run chase.
