Chorley opener Amaan Sarguru rewrites the record books after double century
Batsman Amaan Sarguru is knocking down the door for a first-team call-up at Chorley after an incredible performance for the club’s second team.
The opener re-wrote the club’s record books after he smashed a sensational 205 off just 98 balls to claim the highest individual amateur score in Chorley’s long history.

He struck 24 boundaries and 12 sixes as the second team defeated Fulwood & Broughton’s third team in the first round of the Loxham Cup on Sunday. His score enabled Chorley to post 367-9, with F&B folding to 105 all out in reply.
After a quite start to the summer, Sarguru has hit form in the past few weeks – he struck 74 off 82 balls in a league match against F&B’s second team in a league match earlier this month.
Chorley’s director of cricket Oliver Smith said: “A massive congratulations to Amaan for an absolutely outstanding performance.”
Meanwhile, Chorley have bolstered their ranks further with the re-signing of wicketkeeper batsman Harry Barclay.
The all-rounder returns to Windsor Park after spending last season with Leamington.
He came up through the junior ranks at the club and has scored more than 2,000 runs at first-team level in the Northern Cricket Premier League, with two centuries, including a top score of 107.
He has also struck 20 half-centuries for the club.
