Motorcycle racing brothers Freddie and Charlie Barnes were racing at the ZYN British Superbike championships

Motorcycle racing brothers Freddie and Charlie Barnes were racing at the ZYN British Superbike championships over the Bank Holiday weekend. Freddie was aboard his Sencat Racing Triumph 765 in the Supersport class and Charlie rode his Sencat Racing Aprilia 660 in the National Sportbike class. After two official pre-season tests at Donington Park and Oulton Park it was time for the first races of the year at their local circuit, Oulton Park.

Qualifying saw Freddie on P21 on the grid for race 1 and Charlie qualified in his class at P24. Not where they would have liked to be but the races are a different story.

Race 1 for both brothers on Sunday and Charlie had a technical and only completed one lap which was hugely disappointing. Freddie was moving forward from 21st on the grid up to P12 at half race distance then unfortunately had a crash on the exit of Lodge bend, rider was up and ok. It was a double blow in the Supersport race as Freddie's team mate Lee Johnston on the other Sencat racing Triumph crashed out while he was leading the race !

Monday and it was race 2 for both riders. Freddie started from P15 on the grid and was battling mid pack but he had to retire to the pits not long after. Charlie on the other hand had to start at the back of the grid in P30 but had a great race and stormed through the pack eventually finishing in P13 and in the points.

Although it was an up and down start to the season the team are raedy to go again for round 2 at Donington Park over the weekend May 15/17.
