The taste of silverware and winning the League Cup last term has whetted Reynolds’ appetite for success.

And he is pleased that his new trio former Longridge striker Brad Carsley and Kendal duo Danny Forbes and Matt Dudley share his thirst for success as Brig kicked off the new season with a 2-1 win at Radcliffe Borough.

All three made their league debuts in that opening-day win and Reynolds is happy with what he has seen so far as he builds to create a top-table mentality at the club.

He said: “All of the new boys have done really well.

“They have all bought into what we are trying to do here, which is improve and challenge at the top of the table.

“We are trying to be as professional as a full-time club here and everyone is on board.

“Brad Carsley has made the step up from Longridge and is doing really well.

“Duds and Forbes came as a package from Kendal and all three have started strongly.

“They are lads that can hopefully help us in our bid to get to the next level.

“Duds has so much class and Forbes gives us something different in the middle, he is big strong and powerful and Brad is a natural goalscorer.”

Brig have also been boosted by the return of former player Lennie Reid, who was expected to feature on Tuesday night in the first home game of the season against Goole AFC with Jamie Milligan unavailable.

Reynolds said: “He came to train with us again and said we are the only club he wants to play for. He has done really well and it is great to have him around.

“He brings a buzz and it is just another piece of the jigsaw.”

And Reynolds is keen to go into their FA Cup second qualifying-round clash with Brighouse at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium on Saturday with maximum points on the board in the NPL Premier Division.

He said: “We said before the start of the season that the aim is to go into the FA Cup weekend with momentum.

“If we want to be where we want to be at the end of the season we need to take maximum points from these opening two fixtures.

“We are halfway there and hopefully we can go into the cup game against Brighouse with that momentum.”
