Signed from Manchester United in 2017, Harrop has made more than 80 appearances for the Lilywhites.

After suffering a serious knee injury in 2018, he returned to full fitness for the start of last season and went on to make 36 appearances, scoring eight goals.

Harrop told pnefc.net: "I'm delighted to sign a new deal here, I can't wait to kick on now and show what I can do and do my best for the club.

"I feel like I understand the league a lot more now, I have been involved in it for a couple of years now and I just want to show the fans the best version of me, I want to excite them and score some goals this season."

Manager Alex Neil added: "Everybody has recognised that we had a lot of players with one year left on our deal. What we have tried to do, and need to do, is get ourselves through that list of players and get them tied down.

"Although we didn’t reach our end goal last season, this squad has given us a great platform in being competitive at this level and like always you want to keep the nucleus of that squad and build on it and Josh has been a part of that group.”
