Cunningham hasn't featured since the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on February 6 due to a calf injury, while Maguire sat out the games against Swansea and Brentford with a calf strain.

At his Zoom press conference on Thursday morning, PNE interim head coach Frankie McAvoy said: "We've got a couple of players back who have been training since Monday.

"They are two experienced lads at this level and it will be good to have them involved.

"We are ready to go again, the mood in the camp is good and we are looking forward to playing Stoke on Saturday."

North End might have to wait a bit longer for Daniel Johnson, the midfielder having picked up an injury during the Norwich game on Good Friday.

McAvoy said: "DJ might not make Saturday.

"We'll have an assessment of him tomorrow to see if we can have him in contention for Derby on Tuesday."

Centre-half Liam Lindsay will miss the game as he is on loan from Stoke and isn't allowed to face his parent club.

The clash with the Potters at the bet365 Stadium has a 12.30pm kick-off to avoid it clashing with the funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
