Troy Parrott went closest for North End in the second half but the visitors failed to register a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
The draw left PNE in 14th in the table, seven points away from the top six.
Here’s how we rated the players on the day...
13. Liam Lindsay - 6
Came on for Hughes in the first half and put in a steady enough shift after a shaky few weeks that saw him drop out of the side. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd
14. Troy Parrott - 7
The Irishman was vital in North End getting back into the game, his intelligence on the pitch and a bit of composure to keep PNE coming forward in the right way was missing in the first half. Should have scored when presented with a chance from 12 yards out. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd
15. Bambo Diaby - 6

16. Daniel Johnson - 6
Came on for the closing stages of the game and did fairly well, showed calmness on the ball and a willingness to create. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
