Tom Bradshaw scored in the first half with Zian Flemming netting the Lions’ second in the second half.
PNE had their chances to get ahead and find a way back into the game but couldn’t produce the cutting edge required on the day.
Here’s how we reated the North End players…
9. Josh Onomah - 7
He's looking more and more like the player North End wanted him to be. Not far from full fitness and a really good ball carrier, a lot of the chances PNE created came through him. Photo: CameraSport - Rob Newell
10. Robbie Brady - 6
He's an experienced head to have out there but he just didn't offer enough going forward and crossing from deep against Millwall is what they want. Not the type to look to go around his man and beat someone, which is what PNE lack. Photo: CameraSport - Rob Newell
11. Tom Cannon - 6
Had a couple of half chances but Millwall did a good job on him, preventing the ball getting to his feet and cutting off runs in behind. Not a day for a forward relying on the service of others. Photo: CameraSport - Rob Newell
12. Troy Parrott - 5
He's a player that you can sympathise with, he works so hard for the cause and does his best to carve out openings but it just isn't going his way. Might be trying too hard, has openings for shots that he seems to turn down trying to find the perfect opening. Photo: CameraSport - Rob Newell
