Another busy summer looks in the offing at Preston North End.
Loan players will return to their parent clubs, some senior squad members are out of contract and others could well move on.
PNE boss Paul Heckingbottom regularly says each window is an opportunity to improve and that will be the aim.
The Lilywhites spent the first half of the season firmly in the play-off mix but a poor couple of months has seen them drop into the bottom half of the table.
There are seven games left to contest and 21 points to play for but clearly, it would take an incredible run-in for PNE to put themselves back in contention.
With that in mind, we take a look at every member of Heckingbottom’s squad and where they stand heading into the the last few games, then summer 2026...

21. Michael Smith
Will have 12 months left on his contract this summer. Clearly, someone Heckingbottom values having around but it's not quite worked out as hoped. It'll be intriguing to see if a move away is explored at all. | CameraSport - Rob Newell

22. Thierry Small
A first year in the Championship for Small. There will have been plenty of learning and he'll hopefully be better off for it. PNE need to strike the right balance between challenging Small and being patient with a talented young player, still finding his way. | CameraSport - Rich Linley
23. Milutin Osmajic
The bans this season have been well documented but he has scored eight goals in 22 league appearances, which is good going. Not someone you want to lose for nothing so it's probably a case of extend or sell this summer.

24. Kitt Nelson
Contracted until 2028. After a beneficial experience at Cork City, another loan - possibly in England - would be the logical next step. | CameraSport - Dave Howarth
