Five players left Deepdale in temporary moves during the course of January.

Four of them remain under contract beyond the end of the season, the exception being David Nugent whose move to Tranmere Rovers brings his second spell at Deepdale to an end.

The first to be loaned out was Josh Harrop who has joined Ipswich until the end of the season.

He made a delayed debut for the Tractor Boys in their 2-0 victory over Blackpool at Portman Road on Saturday.

Shortly after signing the loan deal, Harrop returned a positive Covid-19 test so had to self-isolate.

The midfielder came on as a 69th-minute substitute in the Blackpool game.

The striker scored his first goal in the Addicks’ 3-1 defeat to Portsmouth last week.

Lee Bowyer’s side bounced back at the weekend with a 2-0 win at Rochdale, a game in which Stockley played the full 90 minutes.

Ethan Walker rejoined Carlisle in January having initially gone on loan there at the start of the season.

A dislocated shoulder and subsequent surgery halted the loan in October and Preston officially recalled him at the start of January to provide cover in the FA Cup game at Wycombe.

The teenager has now returned to Carlisle and made two sub appearances in his second spell. At the weekend they were without a game.

Josh Earl made a fine start to his loan spell with Burton Albion on Saturday.

The Brewers, bottom of League One, beat high-flying Hull City 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium. Earl played the full game at left-back.

Nugent did not feature in Tranmere’s squad against Port Vale. Having not played since July, he’s being given time to get his fitness up to speed.

PNE have two other players out on loan, Josh Ginnelly and Graham Burke.

Ginnelly is on a season’s loan at Hearts but a ruptured hamstring muscle has brought his campaign to a premature end.

The 23-year-old winger made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Championship leaders.

Ginnelly is out of contract with PNE in June and could well join Hearts permanently once he's recovered from his injury.

Burke joined Shamrock Rovers on loan in July 2019, a deal which was subsequently extended to take the striker through to the end of his PNE contract this summer.

Shamrock Rovers are due to begin the defence of their League of Ireland title in late March, the start of the new season having been delayed from its usual February slot due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
