Preston North End's out-of-contract list has reduced since the start of the season - with extensions signed by five players.
Ben Whiteman, Andrew Hughes, Brad Potts, Dai Cornell and James Pradic have all penned fresh terms at Deepdale this campaign. Meanwhile, Mikey O'Neill - who was set to see his deal expire in the summer - has departed the club and signed for Burnley Under-21s.
The aforementioned list still contains eight players though, including North End captain Alan Browne - who recently surpassed 400 appearances in a Preston shirt. Here, we take a look at the out-of-contract state of play and what the future likely holds for those players.

5. Greg Cunningham
A character you would never wish to lose, but Cunningham just hasn't had much match action this season. He played five games in a row, in October, then picked up another hamstring issue. The Irishman has not featured in the last 17 games - the Chelsea cup tie included. Left centre-back/left-back looks like a position for PNE to freshen up in the summer and therefore you'd have to expect Cunningham - who would no doubt be missed in the dressing room - to seek a new challenge. 6. Ched Evans
Surprised everyone by returning to the pitch this season, after the serious medical condition which looked certain to end his playing career. Has made 16 appearances in all competitions, with six of those starts. Evans is now sidelined with a knee issue and given the striking options at Deepdale, an extension for the number nine may soon be hard to justify. There is Emil Riis, Will Keane, Milutin Osmajic, and of course Layton Stewart - who was a 'project' signing and therefore will want more minutes next season. If Stewart was to head out on loan, then Evans could be kept on. That is, of course, assuming North End don't add to the centre forward department again in the summer. 7. Noah Mawene
There were big words of praise for Mawene recently, from Ryan Lowe. North End's boss thinks he will be a 'fantastic number eight for Preston North End in years to come'. Granted, Lowe has spoken highly of other youth players who've gone on to be released, but Mawene has also made an impression on senior players with how he applies himself every day. Like Seary, Mawene has been offered a new contract and is a player PNE have backed since the age of 16. A loan move to a decent level could help him next season, but Mawene may also back himself to get off the bench with more regularity. (KEEP) | CameraSport - Alex Dodd

8. Lewis Leigh
After spending the first half of the season with Bromley, the PNE man earned a loan move up to League Two side Crewe. But, North End's boss recently admitted Leigh wasn't getting the game time hoped. There is still time to change that, but Leigh will want to improve on his 23 minutes across the four Crewe matches so far. There was hype around the midfielder when he first emerged and he's now at an important stage of his career. Right now, you'd expect there to be some honest conversations in the summer to decide where Leigh's immediate future lies. (STALL) | CameraSport - Rich Linley
