He’s spent a full week back with his teammates and admits he didn’t know what the mood was going to be like after losing key loan players this summer, but has been pleasantly surprised.

Speaking to the PNE website, he said: “It’s actually good. I know usually pre-season isn’t the best for any player, but in my last few days off I was itching to get back.

“It’s been a good graft so far in the few days I’ve been here, but I’ve enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the rest of it now.

“We lost quite a lot of players at the end of last season so I wasn’t sure how things would be when I got back, but it’s a good buzz around the place and in terms of signings I think the club have done really well so far and hopefully we can add even more over the coming weeks.”

Usually PNE have stuck closer to home but Spain will be something different forNorth End and some guaranteed warm weather for the morning, afternoon and evening training sessions that boss Ryan Lowe has got planned.

“I think when you go to places so close to England it’s not that kind of feeling of going away,” Browne said.

“We went to Cork a few times and I think the boys enjoyed it, but they kind of got sick of the repetition after a while, so to be going away to warm weather it’s a bit different and I think everyone’s looking forward to it now.

“Hopefully we can get some more minutes in the legs and work hard. It’s a nice place, it’s just a different scenery and it’s a good buzz now to be going away there.”
