Evans was linked with a move to Wigan Athletic over the last few days but it is unlikely the Welshman will be making the short move to the DW Stadium.

North End’s no.9 came off the bench against Leam Richardson’s side in the opening game of the season but last just eight minute as he was sent off.

He featured regularly in pre-season and there are no signs to show that he would not feature regularly in the Championship this campaign either, once he has served his suspension.

Ched Evans is a big part of my plans and if anyone is interested in my players then they need to contact me or Peter (Ridsdale,” Lowe said.

"That hasn't been the case but who wouldn't be interested in Ched Evans? He's an animal, a fantastic player and different to what we've got.

"We've got four strikers in the building at the minute and we need one more that is different.

"There is no interest from them to me, and I know Leam Richardson quite well.

"They have enough strikers anyway, why do they want someone like Ched? He's not available.

"Unless someone gives me £1-2m that I can use to go and get someone else, then Ched is definitely not available. He's a big part of what we're trying to do.”

PNE are focusing more on bringing a striker in than letting one go as things stand, as they continue to try to bring in their fourth main striking option.

Lowe has spoken about his want for a striker that create something out of nothing and PNE are still waiting for the right man and moment to make that happen.

They have been linked with two former flames in particular this summer, a move to bring back Cameron Archer on another loan deal and to bring back Callum Robinson.

Archer’s new long-term deal at Aston Villa, as well as a substitute appearance in the Premier League on Saturday, has put that one to an end but their interest remains in Robinson.

Not much has changed on that front, North End would take him on loan and cover his wages but would not be prepared to offer the fee the Baggies are asking for in order to buy him – he is also currently out with an injury.

Elsewhere, Lowe hopes to bring in a right wing back but that still depends on outgoings. There have been enquiries made for Matthew Olosunde, who is available for transfer, in the past but so far they have not come to anything.

PNE have a right back ready to go should they get the movement they require.
