Preston North End captain Alan Browne has joined the elite list of players to make 400 appearances for the Lilywhites. North End's captain was introduced in the second half of last Saturday's draw at Millwall, as he reached the incredible milestone.
But, where does that place him in the all time table of those to play for Preston? We take a look here, at those sitting above Browne - who has previously said he would like to reach the number one spot one day.
5. Peter McBride - 474 appearances
Signed from Ayr in December 1896, 'Peter the Great' became PNE's first ever Scottish international. Missed just 37 games in 13 seasons. As per PNE's website, 'He was a huge man, in stature and in heart, with a great reputation, and a temper to suit as he frequently showed.'
6. Sir Tom Finney - 472 appearances
North End's best ever. Sir Tom's only club was his hometown one. He made 76 appearances for England and scored 30 goals. Scored 214 in a PNE shirt. An icon of the football club and also the city.
7. Lee Cartwright - 469 appearances
Debuted in March 1991 and went on to make himself 'an integral part of the squad under a succession of different managers'. The wide man was known for his determination down the flank. Involved in a couple of promotion seasons in the 90s. Departed for Stockport County in January 2004, after 13 seasons at Deepdale.
8. George Ross (back left) - 441 appearances
Debuted on Boxing Day in 1960 and went on to cement his place in the PNE defence, playing in the FA Cup Final of 1964 and promotion season the next decade. 'He received his initial grounding playing alongside fellow legend Willie Cunningham in defence, and took over the veteran’s right back berth following his retirement.'
