The latest Championship transfer news

Here are your Thursday transfer headlines from across the Championship.

Owls want PNE-linked man

Preston North End, Sheffield United and Stoke City were all linked with Aberdeen left-back Jack MacKenzie towards the end of 2024. Now, with the 24-year-old yet to extend his Dons contract beyond the summer, there is reported interest from Sheffield Wednesday. The defender is now free to speak to clubs directly about a potential move.

Tom transfer chase on

Leicester City have recalled former Preston loan star Tom Cannon from his spell at Stoke City. Reports state that Sunderland and Sheffield United are now battling it out to sign the striker permanently - and that it could be down to the player to decide his next destination. It’s been claimed that both clubs could table £13million offers. However, Burnley are also said to have joined the race for the 22-year-old - who netted nine goals for the Potters.

Swansea target Tyrhys swoop

Blackburn Rovers forward Tyrhys Dolan is reportedly a target for Swansea City. The ex-PNE academy man is in the final six months of his contract at Ewood Park. And, with him yet to pen fresh terms, it’s been suggested in the media that the Swans are eyeing a cut-price swoop. Dolan has scored two goals and assisted three in 24 league appearances this campaign - having been at Rovers since July 2020.

Neil’s first signing confirmed

Former Preston boss Alex Neil has made his first signing at Millwall in Aaron Connolly. The Irishman, 24, left Sunderland by mutual consent and has swiftly joined the Lions. He scored against Millwall earlier this season - his one goal for the Black Cats. Connolly came through at Brighton and represented the first team on several occasions before spells at Middlesbrough and Hull City.

Millwall's Director of Football, Steve Gallen, said: "We're pleased to bring Aaron into the club. When Alex and I met him, we really liked his enthusiasm for what we want to do here. Aaron's been a bit unlucky not to play a bit more at Sunderland this season, but that has given us an opportunity to get him in.

"Still only 24, Aaron has a lot of experience for his age. He is at his best when running at defenders and we hope he gets plenty of opportunities to do that with us."
