Goals in either half gave the home side a 2-0 victory, this the first meeting between the teams in eight years.
Here are the PNE player ratings.
9. Josh Earl 7
The recovery tackle he made in his own box at the start of the second half was excellent. Very unfortunate to be subbed as PNE switched system. Photo: Camerasport
10. Scott Sinclair 5
Got little change out of the Blackpool defence with him unable to find the space to work in. Had a couple of half-chances but nothing more. Photo: Camerasport
11. Emil Riis 6
Worked hard but got little reward, with the service up to him lacking. Put in the cross from Whiteman's chance. Photo: Camerasport
12. Tom Barkhuizen 6
Part of a double change as Preston went to 4-4-2. Set up a chance at 2-0 for Maguire. Photo: Camerasport
