Frankie McAvoy made four changes for the game but it was Sepp van den Berg's own goal that was the difference on the night.
Here's how the players fared...
9. Josh Earl - 7
A very bright return to the PNE starting XI, especially in the first half. Played three wonderful crosses into the area that were not converted before fading away as the game wore on. Fantastic outlet to begin with but needed maintaining.
10. Ched Evans - 6
Put the yards in but got little reward for his efforts. Not quite linking play up to the effect that he was towards the end of the last campaign. Saw an effort cleared off the line that would have changed the game.
11. Brad Potts - 6
Did okay in an unfamiliar role, linked things up well at times and is always a willing runner. Didn't quite carve out an opening for himself but didn't stand out as a player hopelessly out of position.
12. Emil Riis - 6
Came on for the final 15 minutes but Huddersfield dropped deep and there wasn't much room for him to run in behind like he would have liked. Did try to make things happen but not much he could do.
